As health communicators working directly with researchers and other public health professionals, we see the need for advanced communication skills on a daily basis. Questions we’ve gotten:
How do you find content for a program website or Facebook/Twitter/Instagram page?
How did you make that presentation so engaging?
How do you know what your message should be for a certain audience?
Where do you find photos that are OK to use?
I was told to use the new poster format but I have no idea what I’m doing. Can you help me?
This site is here to answer those questions and more. CIRTC wants to connect you to trainings and resources on communication topics both familiar and new, like slide design, flash science, plain language, and accessibility. Whether you’re a new grad, mid-career, or a seasoned professional, we can help you share what you know, promote your programs, and collaborate with others using better communication.
We’re just getting started and will be adding new content frequently, so here’s what’s coming:
Topic pages such as audience, flash science/lightning talks, website design and management, etc.
Trainings on developing a message, visual dissemination, virtual presentations, accessibility, running a Twitter chat, etc.
Community Connection: conferences, people, companies, academic centers, and Twitter lists to connect you to the growing community of health and science communicators
CIRTC is a project operated by the Translational Research Team at the Center for Injury Research and Policy of the Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital as one of the center’s outreach and education activities and is supported, in part, by funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
